New century chic - 2006 Infiniti M45 sedan
Billed as the most technologically advanced vehicle ever built by the automaker, the all-new 2006 Infiniti M45 sedan sets the standard for progressive technology for both Infiniti and the luxury car industry. Based on an enhanced, next generation FM (Front Midship) platform with 60 percent of the platform design and components enhanced for use with the rear-drive M45 sedan.
The new Infiniti M captures the essential elements of both the larger Q45 luxury performance sedan and the smaller G35 -- and takes them to a new level of engaging luxury and performance. Available in M45 and M45 Sport models, the M45 features the 4.5L V8 currently used in the Q45 and FX45. Torque is communicated to the street through the standard five-speed automatic transmission with a short-throw performance shifter, manual shift mode and downshift rev matching.
On the road, the M45 generates sweetly fluid power from rest. This smooth and consistent flow of acceleration is at once both seductive and addictive. Handling and control are awesome at speed. The M45 starts with a corrosion resistant, high strength steel unibody as the foundation for the advanced suspension hardware. The M45 features a four-wheel independent suspension system, with a double wishbone system, coil springs and stabilizer bar in front, multi-link with stabilizer bar and coil springs at the rear.
The M45 Sport is equipped with Infiniti's new Rear Active Steer system. Unlike passive rear steering systems, this design features precise, electronic motor-driven control. This system helps improve the M Sport's handling performance by adjusting the geometry of the rear suspension according to steering input and vehicle speed. The system's electronic control unit calculates the desired vehicle dynamics from a series of sensors and directs the system actuator to change rear geometry by moving both rear suspension lower links. The result is sports carlike agility, combined with luxury sedan stability and ride quality.
Inside the cabin, the M45's long wheelbase and short overhangs provide a roomy interior and sport exterior dimensions. The new sedan's interior design engages the senses in new and invigorating ways, combining a driver-oriented cockpit with a graceful level of luxury and design detail. Focusing on purposeful simplicity, the modern and intuitive interior features genuine Rosewood or aluminum trim, leather-appointed seats, Solar Eclipse instrument lighting and available climate controlled front seats, heated power reclining rear seats and advanced Bose Studio Surround sound system.
Other available features include RearView Monitor, Intelligent Cruise Control and the Infiniti DVD-based Navigation system with a new user interface featuring voice-activated destination entry as well as HVAC and audio control.
