Last updated in 2012, the Audi A6 features a classic yet contemporary exterior appearance combined with impressive overall performance and efficiency. The long wheelbase and short overhangs gives the Audi A6 a performance-oriented look while delivering improved ride quality and interior space. Offered in 2.0T and 3.0T models and Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige (3.0T) trim levels, power for the Audi A6 sedan is produced by a 2.0L direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 3.0L direct-injection, supercharged V6 prime mover. Torque is communicated to the pavement through a multitronic CVT eight-speed automatic for the 2.0T and an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic for the 3.0T all-wheel drive. The available quattro AWD features an asymmetric rear-biased torque distribution of 40/60 front/rear.
The Audi A6 represents the core of the Audi luxury sport sedan lineup. It features a lightweight hybrid construction of aluminum body panels with steel frame construction. This body structure consists of 20 percent aluminum content, combined with an aluminum suspension reduces unsprung weight and improves ride and handling. As a result, body weight has been reduced by more than 66 lb vs the predecessor with a front-rear weight distribution ratio of 55/45.
Control hardware for the A6 consists of a five-line front suspension with upper and lower control arms with a stabilizer bar and a trapezoidal-line rear suspension with a stabilizer bar.
