Founded in 1779, Nashville is the capital of Tennessee and perhaps best known as "Music City." Not to be overlooked is Nashville’s reputation as a hub for learning and higher education. Vanderbilt University is one of 24 colleges and universities in the city, earning Nashville the moniker "Athens of the South." The city even boasts a full-scale replica of the Athenian Parthenon that was constructed in 1897.
Many drivers have likely passed through Nashville on one of the three major interstates that meet in the Music City; I-24, I-40 and I-65. A commuter rail network was recently constructed in Nashville, linking the downtown riverfront area with the nearby suburb of Lebanon.
