Just a Smooth, Sweet Ride! They handle so well, you can park them anywhere and they generally turn a head or two. Great gas mileage, comfort - What more does one need? Most Importantly: I feel like a teenager in a Mini Cooper, and I'm Not! :-)

Very Personally Yours: 2018 MINI Convertible

MINI strengthens the progressive character and appeal of the 2018 MINI Convertible with fresh design accentuations, innovations in the field of drive technology, additional customization options and an expansion of the digital services available as part of MINI Connected. This is due to such elements as an extended range of standard features, newly designed headlights and rear lights, additional body finishes and cutting-edge connectivity technology for convenience and infotainment.

Offered in Cooper, Cooper S and John Cooper Works models, upgrades and enhancements for 2018 include: LED rear lights in Union Jack design; LED headlights; new MINI logo, new body finishes, Piano Black exterior; new light alloy wheels; extended range of leather trim, interior surfaces and Color Lines; unique individualization with MINI Yours Customized; multifunction steering wheel and radio with 6.5-inch color screen, standard USB and Bluetooth interface; and MINI logo projection from the exterior mirror on the driver's side.

A modified design for the characteristic circular headlights make the hallmark front view of the new MINI Convertible even more powerfully expressive. In the standard halogen headlights, a striking accentuation is added by means of a black panel. The latest generation of the LED modules for low and high beam offers increased brightness. The LED daytime driving light and the turn indicator light are generated by a ring which surrounds the entire contour of the headlight.

The extensive range of exterior paint colors available for the MINI Convertible now adds three variants: Emerald Grey metallic, Starlight Blue metallic, and Solaris Orange metallic.

Base power is generated by a 1.5L three-cylinder TwinPower turbo engine. Cooper S models are outfitted with a more powerful 2.0L TwinPower turbo four-cylinder mill, while the performance-oriented John Cooper Works is equipped with a 2.0L High-Output Twin Power Turbo four-cylinder engine. Torque is communicated to the wheels for all three prime movers through a Getrag six-speed manual gearbox. A six-speed automatic transmission is an available option.

Inside the passenger cabin, a broad selection of seat surfaces, interior surfaces and Color Lines add a touch of individual style to the interior of the MINI Convertible. Additionally, the new option MINI Yours Interior Style Piano Black with illumination includes a backlit decorative panel on the passenger side of the dashboard, likewise finished in Piano Black as well as bearing a stylised Union Jack motif. The color of the backlighting matches the ambient lighting selected by the driver. This option also adds high-gloss Piano Black surfaces in the area of the doors and center console.

The MINI Yours Customized program raises hallmark brand individualization to a whole new level. It includes retrofit products that can be designed by customers themselves, which are then produced precisely according to these individual specifications. The MINI Yours Customized range will include side scuttles, decorative strips for the interior on the passenger side, LED door sill finishers and LED door projectors. MINI Yours Customized products can be designed and previewed through a specially created Online Customizer. Here customers can choose between various colors, patterns, surface structures and icons, as well as contributing their own texts and adding a touch of personal style to the design.

This offering enables MINI fans to turn their vehicle into a unique specimen that bears the stamp of their own personality. The individualized products are manufactured using innovative production techniques such as various 3D printing methods and laser engraving.

The Mini Cooper Coupe' isn't a whole lot of car. The go-kart comparison was made for a reason, after all. Like many Minis, it's a two-seater, but this one lacks even the most rudimentary "backseat." Instead, it's just two seats up front and then a trunk. But all that means is that there's just less weight and more room for fun.

The go-kart comparison lingers once you're out on the open road and have the pedal to the metal. There's really nothing quite like dropping the top on this baby and really letting loose. You can lean into those turns and hear the engine purr in a way that few cars allow. The Mini Cooper Coupe S is equipped with a turbo-charged 1.6L engine variant that pumps out more horsepower than the base engine. Torque is transmitted to the pavement through a short-throw six-speed Getrag G255/253 manual gearbox.

So yes, sometimes it's the best path to choose to be responsible. But you know, every now and then it pays and is just so darn fun to pick the path that's all about you. Selfish? That's a bit harsh. More like, granting a wish and that wish just so happens to be a two-seater drop top that can tear it up on the roads.
